Childhood Obesity – More Than Just a Few Extra Pounds

Have you ever told yourself, “Just a little bit won’t hurt?” Maybe it is one extra trip to the buffet table, a dessert, a drink or a break from exercise. However, when the “little bit extra” contributes to obesity, the effects can be life threatening and children unfortunately are not exempt. The Centers for Disease Control and […]

Juvenile Diabetes – Talking About Type 1 Diabetics

Being diagnosed with diabetes is never easy and for a child the fear and emotions involved can be magnified as they try and understand and cope with what this disease is all about. You Are Not Alone! These four words are very important for parents or a child to hear as they face life with […]

A Call to Action – Bringing Awareness to Childhood Obesity

Amidst cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other health problems that are on the rise and gaining exposure with many trying to educate the public about the seriousness of these issues, childhood obesity needs to be highlighted. Parents may often not see a few “extra pounds” as anything to be worried about. According to The Centers […]

Achilles Heel Rupture

In Greek Mythology, Achilles was the great hero of the Trojan War. When he was born, his mother, in an attempt to make him immortal, held him by one heel and dipped him head first into the River Styx. The one point on Achilles body that he remained vulnerable was on the heel, where his […]

Time Takes a Toll on Your Feet

Your feet change as you age. They grow in multiple dimensions – in length due to less strength in the plantar fascia, but they also spread in width. They change in other ways also. Your skin around your feet becomes thinner as you age. Therefore, shoes that you have been wearing may not provide enough cushioning to […]

Sports Injuries: A Little Knowledge – A Lot of Healing

There are few certainties in the world of sports, but one is injuries. They will occur, and no one is immune to the effects. From the weekend warrior to the pro athlete, injuries can strike anyone at any time. How quickly and completely you recover from an injury may well depend on your willingness to […]

Sprained Ankles: The Ouch is Readily Noticed

Nearly 25 thousand ankle sprains occur and get treated every year in the US alone. Sprains are the most often treated musculoskeletal injury and come in three grades of severity. Custom or Over-the-Counter Shoe Inserts: Which are Right for You?

If you’re considering shoe inserts, or orthotics, then you are more than likely experiencing foot pain. Your current shoes must not be offering the support you need in order to live pain free. Think about it – your feet support your entire body and with continuous stress, it’s important to recognize that having the extra […]

How to Tell if You Need New Orthotics

Custom orthotics are built to last a long time. In fact, a good pair that’s well cared for can, in the best of circumstances, remain useful for several years. However, even the best and most lightly used orthotics will eventually need to be refurbished, repaired, or replaced. In order to keep you standing, walking, running, and […]

The doctor has great “bedside manners” when talking to patients. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere.

The staff at Dallas Podiatry Works could not have been more courteous, helpful, and professional in doing their job. They made me feel comfortable when I was there, which is certainly appreciated. They answered all the questions that I had and just made each visit the most pleasurable that it could be. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of foot care.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brook to anyone with foot problems–especially problems that stump other podiatrists. He really is very caring and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Joel Brook and the staff were nice and helpful. Though I was a new patient, I got right in as soon as they were open in my preferred location. They diagnosed the problem and provided medicines along with a perfect gel bandage so I could keep exercising while my toes healed. My toes already hurt less and look a little better each day. If I have future issues, I will be a repeat customer. Here’s hoping I don’t, but at least I know my feet are in good hands.

I visited this office for an ingrown toe nail a few years ago. After seeing another doctor, who made it worse, he referred me to Dallas Podiatry Works. The doctor there was able to fix my problem. I’m not great with reviews, all I can tell you is that this doctor and staff will have you up and running or doing whatever it is you do in no time. You will be in great hands. You’d be a fool not to use this doctor. Now its time to visit him again for the other toe.
