Remedy Your Foot Pain with Our Award-Winning Dallas Bunion Doctors for Bunion Treatment
Restore Your Foot Aesthetics & Comfort with Dallas Podiatry Works
If your foot has a funny-looking bump on the side near the big toe, and it sometimes hurts the bump to wear shoes, chances are that you have a bunion – or even two. While you may think you just need to find more comfortable footwear, the problem probably isn’t your shoes – it’s actually the bones, tendons, and tissues inside your feet. Thankfully, Dallas Podiatry Works has several Dallas bunion doctors for bunion treatment options to get you walking in your favorite shoes again, pain-free.
Evaluating the Damage
When you come in to our Dallas podiatry office, we’ll start with a thorough assessment of your feet, including digital X-rays of the affected area. X-rays of a classic bunion typically reveal abnormal positioning of the first metatarsal bone, and sometimes extra bone growth in that area. The large toe is often tilted inward, toward the second toe – in some cases, these two toes could even cross. Because the metatarsal is at the wrong angle, these bony areas jut out from the side of your foot, creating that painful bump that’s so hard to get comfortable inside many shoes. The problem often gets worse the longer it goes untreated, as abnormal stretching of tendons and tissues inside your foot could increase the bone deformity over time.
Once we have a clear picture of what’s going on inside your foot, we’ll develop a treatment plan to get you back on your feet quickly. For immediate pain relief, we’ll help you select the right footwear and provide pads and cushions to increase your comfort. We may also provide orthotic devices to be worn inside your shoes, to help control the abnormal movement of your bones. These inserts can reduce pain as well as the possibility that your bunion deformity will further progress. If these measures aren’t enough to alleviate your pain, surgery may be the next step.

Enacting a Remedy
As a bunion deformity is a structural abnormality, the only way to “fix it” is surgical. This solution is reserved for patients who have pain unresponsive to conservative means, cannot comfortably wear the shoes of their choice, or those who have deformities that are progressively worsening. Bunion surgery works well for the vast majority of patients. The type of bunion surgery depends on several factors including the degree of deformity, patient’s activity level, and their overall health. After your bunion surgery, our Dallas bunion doctors provide the care and information you need for a speedy recovery.
Bunions are an uncomfortable, progressive condition. They bulge out from the side of your foot, make wearing your favorite shoes difficult, and add pain to normal activities like walking. Without correction, they generally get worse. You don’t have to suffer through the pain, however. Treating your bunion can significantly reduce your discomfort and get you back out and enjoying life again. Don’t settle for less by ignoring it. The doctor has great “bedside manners” when talking to patients. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere.

The staff at Dallas Podiatry Works could not have been more courteous, helpful, and professional in doing their job. They made me feel comfortable when I was there, which is certainly appreciated. They answered all the questions that I had and just made each visit the most pleasurable that it could be. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of foot care.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brook to anyone with foot problems–especially problems that stump other podiatrists. He really is very caring and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Joel Brook and the staff were nice and helpful. Though I was a new patient, I got right in as soon as they were open in my preferred location. They diagnosed the problem and provided medicines along with a perfect gel bandage so I could keep exercising while my toes healed. My toes already hurt less and look a little better each day. If I have future issues, I will be a repeat customer. Here’s hoping I don’t, but at least I know my feet are in good hands.

I visited this office for an ingrown toe nail a few years ago. After seeing another doctor, who made it worse, he referred me to Dallas Podiatry Works. The doctor there was able to fix my problem. I’m not great with reviews, all I can tell you is that this doctor and staff will have you up and running or doing whatever it is you do in no time. You will be in great hands. You’d be a fool not to use this doctor. Now its time to visit him again for the other toe.
