Improve Nail Health and Strength with Vitamins
Let’s be honest, toenail health is not at the top of most people’s lists with regard to physical health. Given how much time they spend covered, it isn’t hard to literally lose sight of them. It becomes especially easy for toenail health to slip out of mind during the holiday season. There are gifts to buy, meals to plan, and cards to send out. The good news is that having healthy, strong nails doesn’t actually require too much effort, even at this crazy time of the year!
There are a variety of ways to keep your toenails healthy and strong. Keeping them dry and clean, using moisturizers, and avoiding nail polish removers containing harsh acetone or formaldehyde are all smart methods for ensuring toenail health. A little known tactic for strong nails, though, is to eat a balanced diet and supplement with vitamins, especially those containing biotin.
They say that you are what you eat, and if you want healthy nails you should be eating foods rich in vitamin B (especially biotin), C, and D, iron, copper, and zinc. We recommend that you stick to a balanced, nutrient-rich diet for your overall health, but creating meal plans that use foods in their simplest, unprocessed forms will also help you get the nutrients you need for healthy nails. Another method is to take a multivitamin daily. That is not quite as effective as getting your nutrients from food, but you will still benefit from it.
