Conservative Heel Pain Treatment Options

Heel pain affects many individuals of all walks of life across our greater Dallas-Fort Worth communities. In no small part, this can be attributed to tremendous force loads heels endure on a regular basis. Whether those forces result in bone spurs or overuse leads to plantar fasciitis, conservative heel pain treatment options provide relief for many of our patients.

There are many possible causes of heel pain, but the most common for adult patients is plantar fasciitis. This particular condition is often recognized by the sharp, intense pain that accompanies the first steps of each day. In spite of the intense pain, there is good news in the fact that most cases can be effectively resolved with the use of conservative care methods, including:
Conservative Treatment Options for Your Heel Pain

  • Rest – Putting a hold on high-impact activities (think running or jumping) will give your body time to repair damaged tissue. When we have given you the go-ahead to resume activities, our professionals can help you create an exercise plan that keeps you safe.
  • Medication – Ibuprofen and naproxen are some of the medications that can be used to control pain and inflammation. Our doctors will let you know which kind we recommend for you and the appropriate dosage you need.
  • Ice – Ice is always a great option for relieving pain and minimizing inflammation. We will provide an icing regimen that works best for you.
  • Exercise – It might seem odd to use exercise to treat a source of heel pain, but stretching the tissues and strengthening supporting muscles can help.
  • Custom orthotic devices – Unlike store-bought inserts, custom orthotics can correct biomechanical abnormalities that ultimately cause heel pain.
  • EPAT shockwave therapy – This state-of-the-art remedy uses pressure waves to increase blood flow and accelerate your body’s natural healing process, providing considerable heel pain relief.
  • NeuroTherm pain relief – The NeuroTherm radiofrequency generator is another of Dallas Podiatry Works’ cutting edge pain relief technologies that deals with strong or resistant pain.

These nonsurgical treatment options for heel pain not only work for plantar fasciitis, but may be included in our treatment plan for other conditions like Sever’s disease, heel spurs, Achilles tendinitis, and bursitis.

No matter the source of your heel pain, be sure to come see our doctors and professional staff here at Dallas Podiatry Works to find the relief you need. We will begin by using conservative heel pain treatment options to address the issue at hand, but we are also prepared to provide exceptional surgical procedures when necessary.

The doctor has great “bedside manners” when talking to patients. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere.

The staff at Dallas Podiatry Works could not have been more courteous, helpful, and professional in doing their job. They made me feel comfortable when I was there, which is certainly appreciated. They answered all the questions that I had and just made each visit the most pleasurable that it could be. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of foot care.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brook to anyone with foot problems–especially problems that stump other podiatrists. He really is very caring and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Joel Brook and the staff were nice and helpful. Though I was a new patient, I got right in as soon as they were open in my preferred location. They diagnosed the problem and provided medicines along with a perfect gel bandage so I could keep exercising while my toes healed. My toes already hurt less and look a little better each day. If I have future issues, I will be a repeat customer. Here’s hoping I don’t, but at least I know my feet are in good hands.

I visited this office for an ingrown toe nail a few years ago. After seeing another doctor, who made it worse, he referred me to Dallas Podiatry Works. The doctor there was able to fix my problem. I’m not great with reviews, all I can tell you is that this doctor and staff will have you up and running or doing whatever it is you do in no time. You will be in great hands. You’d be a fool not to use this doctor. Now its time to visit him again for the other toe.
