Leave Your Ball of the Foot Pain Behind

With so many entertainment options in the city, it would be a shame to let ball of foot pain and sore feet keep you from enjoying fantastic local programs like Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art. Giving Dallas, TX residents and visitors a real treat every third Friday of the month, the DMA stays open until 11:00 pm and offers concerts, readings, performances, tours, film screenings, and more. Entry fees:

  • $10 public (some exhibitions require an additional ticket)
  • $5 students (with valid ID)
  • FREE for DMA Members
  • FREE for children 11 and under

In spite of this wonderful museum experience, you likely will not feel inclined to take a trip to the DMA when you are living with forefoot pain that accompanies metatarsalgia. This condition has an array of causes, including:

  • Intense activity like running
  • Poorly-fitting shoes
  • Excess weight
  • Stress fractures

For a majority of cases, conservative treatment proves to be rather effective for dealing with this ailment. Some tips to help are:
Walk Comfortably Without Metatarsalgia

  • Resting your foot and avoiding stress that can lead to further injury. This will likely mean giving up running and various other sports for a while, but you can use the time to start low-impact activities like cycling or swimming. Once you are at full health, keep the low-impact exercises as part of your routine for injury prevention and greater overall fitness.
  • Arch supports, especially custom-prepared orthotics from our office, can help reduce stress on your metatarsal bones.
  • Shoes that offer adequate support and are intended for your stride, foot type, and the physical activities you perform can help with this condition.
  • Let our foot specialists provide extra cushioning for your sore feet with the use of injectable dermal fillers to protect them. We will determine the cause of your pain and discomfort and evaluate if this option can help.  If so, we use FDA-approved biodegradable fillers to enhance your natural conditioning. This therapy can provide help for potentially up to one year, without posing the risk of major complications.

The doctor has great “bedside manners” when talking to patients. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere.

The staff at Dallas Podiatry Works could not have been more courteous, helpful, and professional in doing their job. They made me feel comfortable when I was there, which is certainly appreciated. They answered all the questions that I had and just made each visit the most pleasurable that it could be. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of foot care.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brook to anyone with foot problems–especially problems that stump other podiatrists. He really is very caring and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Joel Brook and the staff were nice and helpful. Though I was a new patient, I got right in as soon as they were open in my preferred location. They diagnosed the problem and provided medicines along with a perfect gel bandage so I could keep exercising while my toes healed. My toes already hurt less and look a little better each day. If I have future issues, I will be a repeat customer. Here’s hoping I don’t, but at least I know my feet are in good hands.

I visited this office for an ingrown toe nail a few years ago. After seeing another doctor, who made it worse, he referred me to Dallas Podiatry Works. The doctor there was able to fix my problem. I’m not great with reviews, all I can tell you is that this doctor and staff will have you up and running or doing whatever it is you do in no time. You will be in great hands. You’d be a fool not to use this doctor. Now its time to visit him again for the other toe.
