New Year’s Resolutions for Healthy Feet

When people make New Year’s resolutions, they often pick ones that are related to health. Eating better, exercising more often, and losing weight are all popular options. Given that we are a Dallas, TX podiatrist office, we are inclined to think that more people should consider making foot care resolutions for healthy feet and ankles. Remember, those valuable lower appendages allow you to perform daily tasks and your favorite activities!

When it comes to making foot care resolutions, the best part is that you can reap major benefits from simple actions. Also, they often go hand-in-hand with commitments to exercising more and losing weight. Some of the best that we can suggest include:

  • Stretch daily. Many common foot and ankle injuries happen due to soft tissues that are too tight. You can keep muscles and tendons limber by doing some simple stretches every day, especially first thing in the morning.
  • Wear the right shoes. Make a commitment this year to ensuring that you are always sporting the right footwear for the activities that you perform. If you are going to start a running program, invest in a solid pair of running shoes (and then replace them when they become worn out).
  • Make sure your footwear fits. Avoid shoes that are either excessively tight or loose. When your toes are squashed together in the front, you are more likely to develop ingrown toenails and other issues. Conversely, loose shoes that allow the foot to slide within contribute to calluses and blisters from the friction.
  • Stay active. This will likely fit perfectly with your goals for losing weight or working out, but staying physically active is essential for your foot health too. Cardio and strength training exercises both help ensure that your feet are receiving a healthy blood flow.

In addition to establishing these habits in 2016, make sure that you come see us here at Dallas Podiatry Works at the soonest opportunity when issues arise. It is easier and more effective to treat foot and ankle conditions in the early stages, so keep in mind that foot pain is not something to be ignored. Minor issues can escalate into major problems when left untreated.

The doctor has great “bedside manners” when talking to patients. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere.

The staff at Dallas Podiatry Works could not have been more courteous, helpful, and professional in doing their job. They made me feel comfortable when I was there, which is certainly appreciated. They answered all the questions that I had and just made each visit the most pleasurable that it could be. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this type of foot care.

I would highly recommend Dr. Brook to anyone with foot problems–especially problems that stump other podiatrists. He really is very caring and very knowledgeable.

Dr. Joel Brook and the staff were nice and helpful. Though I was a new patient, I got right in as soon as they were open in my preferred location. They diagnosed the problem and provided medicines along with a perfect gel bandage so I could keep exercising while my toes healed. My toes already hurt less and look a little better each day. If I have future issues, I will be a repeat customer. Here’s hoping I don’t, but at least I know my feet are in good hands.

I visited this office for an ingrown toe nail a few years ago. After seeing another doctor, who made it worse, he referred me to Dallas Podiatry Works. The doctor there was able to fix my problem. I’m not great with reviews, all I can tell you is that this doctor and staff will have you up and running or doing whatever it is you do in no time. You will be in great hands. You’d be a fool not to use this doctor. Now its time to visit him again for the other toe.
