Fourth of July & Your Feet!
The Fourth of July and feet aren’t a normal pairing but there are a lot of activities that many people are involved in where feet need to be protected in order to stay in the fun. If you are going to attend the Fair Park Fourth for the biggest fireworks display in Dallas, TX take a second before you head out the door to check what you are putting on your feet. For a night when you may be walking longer distances or standing for long periods of time, choose footwear that is going to properly cushion and support your feet. When walking back in the dark after your Fourth of July activities, avoid sandals to keep feet protected from stubs and cuts.
There are several Independence Day parades around Texas, and sitting for long periods in the hot sun could cause painful sunburns. Many people often forget about their feet when applying sunscreen. Protect your feet from the sun as they are just as susceptible to burns and skin cancer as any other part of your body.
Another great way to celebrate this holiday would be to join in on the UP Firecracker Fun Run. This 5K run is open to all ages and takes place in Curtis Park, Dallas, TX. If you have never tried a race before, stop in and see foot specialists Drs. Joel Brook, Arroyo, and McClurkin to get your feet ready. Based in Dallas and Plano, TX they can assess your foot health, diagnose any problems to be aware of and give advice on the best footwear for your feet.
