Q
What can I expect with physical therapy?

A

When our patients are recovering from a foot or ankle injury or a surgical procedure, physical therapy is an effective part of the treatment process. It involves exercises that are specifically designed to improve your strength, coordination, flexibility, and endurance. When these areas are targeted, it helps you return to your daily activities more quickly, and helps protect your foot or ankle from future injury.

If you will be a part of physical therapy at our office you can expect a program that will be tailored to your needs—safe and effective for the nature of your condition or injury. We will make rehabilitation goals and take you through a series of exercises to target the areas that need strengthening. The length of time will depend on the severity of your injury, but most often continues for 4-6 weeks to ensure proper healing. Dr. Joel W. Brook and David R. Northcutt often provide further exercises that you can do at home, as part of maintenance program to protect against future foot or ankle problems. If you have any questions or current concerns, contact Dallas Podiatry Works in Dallas, TX at (972) 566-7474 or in Plano, TX at (972) 943-3323.
