How to Maintain Your Workout Resolutions

Making resolutions can be a great first step for your health and fitness because it means that you want to improve, but it’s important to keep in mind that it is only the first step. After making that wise decision, it’s time to act upon it. This is where the rubber meets the road, as they say.

For too many individuals (both here in our Dallas, TX community and just about everywhere else), sticking to resolutions can be tough. We might be your first choice for foot care, but our office is concerned with your overall wellness, too, so we’re going to provide tips to help you keep your workout resolutions!

Here are some of the top ones:

  • A Goal Without a Plan is Just a WishWrite them down. If you haven’t already done so, taking the time to write down your resolutions and fitness goals is crucial to your success. If you do this in a journal, it will help with some of the next tips.
  • Have a plan. If you already have plans set, you are a step ahead in the game. Otherwise, follow up your written commitment to your workout resolution with a plan that includes specific actions you need to take. This will help you stay on the path all year long.
  • Track your progress. In addition to planning, be sure to record your progress. This tip will help you see how far you have come since the start of your journey and will provide motivation when it is tough to make it to the gym or head out for a walk or run.
  • Let others know. This tip is especially valuable for creating accountability, but telling friends and loved ones your goals will also create a support network to keep you going strong!

These tips for keeping resolutions can certainly help, but don’t forget that you also need to commit to making sure you receive treatment for your foot and ankle issues at the earliest opportunity! Whether caused by physical activities or otherwise, minor problems left untreated can turn into major situations.
