Halloween – Have Fun but Play it Safe!
Skeletons, ghosts and witches – oh my! Halloween will soon be upon us and this fun time of the year brings out the kid in all of us. If you have a family with children, finding fun and safe events is easy around a city like Dallas, TX. If you have enough nerve, check out the Cutting Edge Haunted House in Fort Worth, TX, which is said to be the biggest in the world. Kids can also enjoy the Looney Tunes Spooky Town at Fright Fest, taking place at the Six Flags amusement park in Arlington, TX through October 27th, 2013.
Wherever your adventures take you, keep in mind some important tips that will keep everyone in the family safe. If you are out at night, do what you can to be seen. Wear something that glows in the dark or carry a flashlight. A costume that is too long, a mask that doesn’t fit well or poor shoes could be hazardous for your child to walk in. Make sure their costume fits well and send them out with good footwear if they will be walking all over the neighborhood. A foot injury or blisters would be a poor way to end a fun night. Always walk in groups or send children with a trusted adult and remind them of street safety. Advise kids to wait to snack on their treats until you have had a chance to check them out. Dump everything out and don’t eat anything that is not in a wrapper. Avoid eating any homemade treats that are made by strangers.
