Glamour Toes – Pedicure Safety
Everyone recognizes the fact that women enjoy a little pampering now and again - breakfast in bed, a neck massage or perhaps a salon pedicure. All of the above would make anyone’s day special, especially when your best partner is on the giving end of this, right? What about the salon pedicure? Have you ever stopped to think that by entering this environment you are placing your health at risk, or at least the health of your feet?
If you have any doubts about your favorite salon or if you are going to a new one, plan on an early arrival to watch what is going on around you. Do you know for a fact that your nail technician has washed their hands between clients? Do they appropriately clean the spa tub between clients?
There are several concerns that should be carefully weighed before plunking down your coin to enjoy a little spa time.

If you don’t see this type of activity at the salon you are visiting, RUN! Nail salons are notorious for harboring a host of bacteria and fungi, which includes:
You don’t want to risk leaving with something you didn’t plan on. You may think your salon offers the best prices in town. But if they are scrimping on their budget in the cleanliness department, you will never offset the cost of medical and fungal treatments with what you are able to save on manicures and pedicures. A pedicure does not last forever, but it seems like nail fungus does. It cannot be stressed enough - cleanliness is everything!
